Keeping Children Safe in Education: Are you ready for the changes?

By law, all schools in England and Wales are required “to ensure children are safe from terrorist and extremist material when accessing the internet in school, including by establishing appropriate levels of filtering” (Revised Prevent Duty Guidance: for England and Wales, 2015), statutory guidance that by now we are all quite familiar with.

But did you know, further to that guidance, the Department of Education have also revised the statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ which is active from 5th September 2016. New measures are to be put in place to “ensure appropriate filters and monitoring systems” are included in your safeguarding planning and solutions. The significant change here is the mention of “appropriate monitoring”.

So, what is ‘Appropriate Monitoring’ for a school?

 Kind Regards,
