A Brief History
Computer Talk was founded in 1990, and it grew into a small business with a great reputation for technical expertise and good ethics after the London Borough of Redbridge presented us with an opportunity in a number of schools in 1991.
During the 1990’s we gradually built a reputation for solid work, innovation and honesty… these fundamentals have allowed us to develop into the company we are today.
Since 2010, Computer Talk has grown significantly and is now a major player in the surrounding boroughs and counties. The company has structure, process and some truly wonderful people with in it. But we’re not done yet… we can be bigger, better and stronger.
About the Directors
Liam O’Mahony
“After leaving school in 1981 I went into the telecoms industry at BT, and eventually into Computer networking with Apricot Computers. It was whilst working for a computer reseller the opportunity to start a business arose. My background in telecoms and computing has given me a superb base upon which to build technically and for me to truly appreciate the solutions our customers need…

Liam's Personal BioHaving been in the IT industry since leaving school, I saw an opportunity to try to create something more meaningful and fulfilling. At the time, I did not know where it would lead, but we gradually built a reputation for solid work, innovation and honesty… the fundamentals of what we still are today. Computer Talk has grown into a business with a reputation for solid work, innovation and honesty… the fundamentals of what we still are today.
I want Computer Talk to be known as a truly outstanding company. Not good or great, but outstanding. Not me saying it, not an accreditation saying it, but our customers saying it. It must be achieved through our work and be a true reflection of what we consistently deliver. This is not an easy thing to achieve, but it is the goal of our entire team.
A major personal achievement for me is being trusted by the same customer for many years. Some schools have been engaged with us for over 17 years which is a true sign of what Computer Talk stands for. We take that trust seriously and take great pride in it. Also achieving 25 years in this business was a great moment.”
Liam is at his happiest when customers give unprompted praise for the work we do because it helped them do what they need to do. He enjoys seeing Computer Talk teams turn situations around to help schools to do more with their IT. He could not wish for more when owning a business.
Liam is a huge music fan; being both an avid listener and musician. In his spare time, he can be found playing the Drums and Keyboards. On the rare occasion that he breaks free of the office, Liam derives pleasure from photography, and pain from Golf!

Andrew's Personal BioI would like Computer Talk to be recognised by our customers as a partner capable of offering real value to everyday teaching and learning. Not simply technology and support, but a partner that has had a firm impact on the way our younger generation experience everyday IT. Whether it is an interactive display or a mobile device, it should be seamless, collaborative and engaging.
When I joined in 2010 we had a team of 16 people and 35 customers under regular support, today we have in excess of 40 staff and over 100 support schools. We have also expanded our range of services to include Broadband, Audio Visual and Mobile Device Provisioning. The company has also transformed internally in terms of process, structure and staff in order to ensure that our schools receive an outstanding, consistent experience at every level of the business.
I love the team spirit of Computer Talk and sharing our success with others. However, I derive particular enjoyment from seeing our younger generation engaging with technology and this brings an enormous amount of pride in the knowledge that Computer Talk have delivered that experience.”
Andrew spent 25 years working within the Corporate Sector in London, working for Canon [UK] Ltd. He was responsible for a number of large financial institutions and legal firms on a European and Global scale, managing print and document workflow. He was also responsible for building a number of successful sales and marketing teams in order to grow market share.
The highlights Andrew has of Computer Talk include celebrating our 25 years in business in 2015. However, he believes that each time a school chooses to partner with Computer Talk is a great achievement, as he can see the excitement our innovative ideas bring to each and every classroom.
